Costuming classes-Supply lists

Skirt Class

6 1/2 yds of polyester chiffon or similiar fabric (flys!)
1 pac of quilt binding- tan or coordinating color
1 - 1 1/2 yds 3/4" elastic
thread
sewing tools including if possible a portable sewing machine

Belt class

I/2 yd buckram or similiar stiffening material
1/2 yd of beautiful cover fabric
1/2 yd of lining fabric such as denim or cotton or canvas
velcro
hooks
thread-heavy carpet thread
optional--possible decorations, trim, appliques, sew-on jewels, etc....
sewing tools including if possible a portable sewing machine

Bra class

"Hard" bra cups-i.e.those used for strapless bra's- Fredrick's of Hollywood -style number 0508 or their "Passion Bra" style #9801
3 yds grosgrain (sp?) ribbon
metal bra hook
beautiful cover fabric
thread-heavy carpet thread
optional--possible decorations, trim, appliques, sew-on jewels, etc....
sewing tools including if possible a portable sewing machine


The grosgrain ribbon is used for the straps. The only part of the bra we use is the cups...unless you find some amazing bra that fits just right. The bra should have as hard (thick-stiff) a cup as you can find. It must be able to hold it's shape with all the stuff it's got to hold, either heavy coins or lots of beads and sequins etc... it  should be a pushup, low plunge type with underwires or sometimes the strapless bras have a good thick cup.. Or sometimes you can find an old gramma machine type bra that you get at Woolworths or such... they aren't tilted, but we do that in class. The ideal one has a very round cup. It makes your breast look like a luscious round fruit rather than a bag on a shelf or a duck bill shape.
